Small challenge: How you describe “software testing” to your Grandmom?

In your daily conversation, sometimes you are put in situation when you need to describe the term “software testing” or “software tester” to someone (such as your Mom or your Grandmom) who may have little to no knowledge about technology.

No, you don’t want to quote the entire definition of software testing from Wiki to tell your Grandmom. You want a short, easy-to-understand definition to tell in this case.

My challenge is how you describe “software testing” to your Grandmom in the simplest way?

    My answer: “Software testing is doing “blood testing” for software”.

    @Phuoc,

    I’m afraid my grandmom will have difficulty understanding “software” or “blood testing”. 😀

    Someone cooks something, and I’m the one who tastes to see if this’s delicious or not 🙂

    That’s an excellent description, Lan!

    Easy, software testing like “I’m asking a boy named Software and then I will evaluate him” 😀

    Easy, software testing like “I’ will ask a boy named Software several questions and then I will evaluate him” 😀

    I would spend my time learning to test better rather making her understand about testing. Again depends on the context 🙂

    @Santhosh,

    > Well, I don’t think explaining software testing to someone is that time-consuming. Of course, again, it depends on the context 😉
